BIO

My work is rooted in plein air landscape painting, but ends in playful mazes. I create two-dimensional contour images which are also representative of three-dimensional space. All are taken from plein-air painting road trips and residencies, and constitute a travelogue through which I retrace my own steps. The lines form a maze with a solution.

As you wander through my constructed landscapes, I invite you to consider the land around you. How do we relate to our public lands as we explore them? Do certain paths entice us, which in the bigger picture are revealed to be dead ends?

I grew up in the suburbs of New York City, but have been adopted by the Bay Area, where hiking, camping and painting all go hand-in-hand.
